"A Service of Worship: Sacred Jazz and Spirituals" now available! - June 1, 2008

On Sunday, February 10, 2008 I had the great pleasure of playing with the incredible Chancel Choir at First Community Church, under the direction of renowned choral conductor Ron Jenkins. Joining me in the rhythm section were bassist Doug Richeson and drummer Joe Ong. We performed some wonderful pieces and arrangements, including "Come Sunday", "Make A Joyful Noise", and "Joshua Fit de Battle of Jericho". I also wrote music for the hymn text "When, Like the Woman At the Well", and arranged the Lord's Prayer for the choir and jazz trio. It was an inspiring morning of music and, luckily, it was recorded and is now available!

Email me at marflu@hotmail.com if you're interested; the price is $15.00. It can also be purchased directly from First Community Church at www.fcchurch.com.

4/7/07 Jarrett show at the Columbus Music Hall - April 8, 2007

Thanks everyone for coming and thanks to Becky Ogden at the CMH for such a great venue. The opportunity to play the music of Keith Jarrett for a receptive, listening audience is one that doesn't come around too often. It was one of the most enjoyable musical experiences of my life.

John Petric review of "In Love, In Blue" - March 24, 2007

HOME GROWN  - CD Review by John Petric,  “The Other Paper”

Mark Flugge can play piano. Well. Extremely well. His solo album, “IN LOVE, IN BLUE”, is here and you need it! Flugge takes on Cole Porter and Fats Waller, Sammy Cohn and Duke Ellington, Johnny Hodges and George Gershwin, and he makes them all his own – not an easy thing as a solo affair, but piano acapella is one of the most beautiful arts around. As for his two originals, one of them (“I Sulk On The Moon”), is an anagram of his favorite pianist. Guess who, then get the album -  or get the album and then guess who.  Whatever you do, just get the album!

solo piano CD - March 4, 2007

My solo piano recording "In Love, In Blue", is now available. It features the Cole Porter classic "So In Love", Billy Strayhorn's "A Flower is a Lovesome Thing", and my arrangement of Gershwin's "Rhapsody In Blue", among others.
